Game 4 is already upon us. Are the finals almost over as quickly as they started? The oddsmakers have this next one closer than the last. If the game is too close for you to call, you can always have a bit of fun with some prop bets.
Proposition bets allow bettors to focus on single players and/or how the game will play out. Bettors deserve some extra fun with these finals. They could be over on Friday night. Let’s go ahead and take a look at a few we think have some value.
Race to 20 points
Here is an interesting opportunity. Golden State has won the race in two of the first three games. Cleveland will be at home which will give them a better chance. 20 points isn’t much, especially considering how many points have been scored in the first three games so far.
The Golden State Warriors are sitting close to a 2/3 payout to reach 20 points before the Cavs. If Chef Curry starts cooking early, look out. There isn’t very much doubt left in people’s minds that there is a better scoring team in the league.
They have 3 of the best pure shooters in the league today, and they will be playing confident and loose with a 3-0 game lead in these NBA Finals. Watch out in the first 5 minutes of the game. If Cleveland misses a few long jumpers or turns the ball over a couple times, the Warriors will be off and running off with the first 20 points.
The first quarter hasn’t been a terrible one for the Cavs in this series. They have come out drilling shots and getting to the basket with aggression and regularity. The problem has been Golden State doing so with more efficiency.
The Cleveland Cavaliers have a bit more value here with a 5/4 payout. They will be playing in front of their hometown crowd of course, and their backs are up against the proverbial wall. Let’s not forget that Cleveland has the best overall player in the NBA in Lebron James.
James along with Kyrie Irving should be able to get to the hoop early. If the double teams come, J.R Smith and Kyle Korver will need to sink those corner three’s. Protecting the ball and getting the crowd going early will be imperative for the Cavs.
Winning Margin
The betting line for game 4 is currently at -6 for Golden State. One prop bet we found is several different winning margins for each team, and payouts for both. If you just take Golden State to cover the 6 points, the payout is almost even money at -110.
You could take the Warriors to win by 3-6 points at 5-1. That’s a 600.00 payout on a 100.00 bet! They have a similar payout of 11/2 if they win by 10-13 points. Both of these hold a bit of value as most expect the Warriors to win and make their free throws down the stretch.
The Cavs winning by 1-2 points pays out at 12/1. If the Cavs win, they will likely win by a small margin. I say this because they have barely been able to hold a lead at all during the series.
Cleveland is also a 7/2 underdog to win the game by 6 or more points. This would pay out 450.00 on a 100.00 bet. The Cavaliers winning by 6 isn’t absolutely far-fetched considering they have the firepower and Golden State is due to have a bad night.
There are also several “winning margin” prop bets that don’t distinguish which team will actually be winning. Do you feel like we are due to see an old 90’s east coast defensive struggle that could keep the game tighter? Or is Golden State going to be raining trey’s like they do so well?
A 1-5 point winning margin will pay out almost double your money at 9/5. There is a bit of value here, but I like the prop bet of a winning margin of 6-10 points at a 12/5 payout a little more. Golden State is the better team and the better free throw shooting team. So, we like them the 6-10 point winning margin for them or for either team.
If you feel like the series is already over and the Warriors will win big, a 26-30 point margin will pay out at 20/1. 100.00 to make 2,000.00? Yes, please! Game 4 could very easily be a blowout if the Cavs mentally break by halftime.

Highest-Scoring Quarter
This one seems like an open and shut case. The Warriors have easily had the highest scoring quarter in each of the first three games. A bet on Cleveland no matter the payout would simply be foolish.
Golden State is sitting at 5/9 right now to have the highest-scoring quarter in game 4. While most prop bets lure the public in with hefty payouts and potential illusions of grandeur, the value is found closer to even money. This time, they are actually favored.
Bettors will have to put up nearly double the money than they would win. The value is there though, definitely more so than with any of the other prop bets. The first and third quarters will likely be the highest-scoring for the Warriors as they will be fresh to run, gun, and dunk.
